Reverend Barbara P. Butler, Associate Minister
Reverend Barbara Butler is the eldest daughter of six children born to Wallace T. Picot and the late M. Ursula Jones Picot in Carrsville, Virginia. She attended and joined the Pulaski Baptist Church. At an early age and upon marriage, she changed her membership to Morning Star Baptist Church in Windsor, VA.
Reverend Barbara Butler served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Adult and Young People Teacher, Director of Vacation Bible School, Secretary, and Associate Minister. Barbara attended and graduated from Georgia Tyler High School in 1968.
She received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Secretarial Science from Paul D. Camp Community College in 1973. Also, she received her BS Degree in Organizational Management from St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA in 1994; a Masters in Religious Studies in 2004 and a Masters of Divinity Degree in 2005 from the Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Reverend Barbara Butler is affiliated with the Nansemond and Isle of Wight Baptist Sunday School Union in Suffolk, VA and serves as the Recording Secretary. She was nominated as President of The Baptist Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress of Virginia at its Annual Session in July 2009.
Minister Butler loves God, believes God can use anyone, and believes that the living gospel is a lifestyle. Therefore, she received her calling to ministry in 2000 and was licensed to preach the gospel on November 12, 2000 by the Rev. Johnny L. Cook.
Reverend Barbara Butler is the mother of three children – Tonya Butler Faison (David), Toya Butler, and Vernon Butler, Jr. (Yameka); and six grandchildren – Montel, Kenneth, Taylor, Kristina, Tyler, and Timothy.
